About Volunteering

Who is a volunteer?
A volunteer, as used in JITW Crusades, is any person who helps in an activity (or activities) of JITW Crusades. The activities of JITW Crusades during Missions include preaching, singing, intercessory praying, visitation (to hospitals, prisons etc. if any falls within the area of the mission) and sometimes community relief services like a community clean-up and health screening exercise. JITW Crusades rely on volunteers to carry out all the activities marked for any mission.

Who qualifies to be a volunteer?
The person willing to volunteer must be a Christian; one who believes in Jesus Christ as the only Saviour and the Bible as the infallible Word of God. It does not matter the denomination, tribe, race, sex or political orientation of the person. Further, special skills are not a necessity to volunteer. There is no age-limit. We are interested in people who have a passion for soul winning in accordance with Mathew 28:18-20. However due to limitations of accommodation we take exception at persons who may have any contagious/communicable disease at the time of going to camp.

What are the roles of Volunteers?
Volunteers may be assigned a number of roles based on their strengths, skills and desire. These roles are defined by the functional units of the missions – Prayer Tower, Organising Unit, Kitchen, Evangelism Sub, Music (Choristers and instrumentalists), Sound and Technical Unit, Publicity (and media) Unit, among others. Apart from the above, which are specialized, witnessing is the role of every volunteer; every volunteer will “preach” at some point in time during the mission.

Is there training for volunteers?
Yes. During the prayer retreats volunteers are oriented to the expectations of a mission. Volunteers will be taken through some approaches to evangelism among other talks on the requirements of each functional unit.

Is it required of volunteers to pay any fees?
No. Just as Jesus did not charge any of His disciples or apostles JITW Crusades does not take any fee from volunteers. Throughout the period of a mission JITW Crusades takes care of the needs of Volunteers.

Will JITW Crusades compensate volunteers financially?
No. JITW Crusades employ different ways and means to appreciate volunteers but It is never the policy of JITW Crusades to strictly pay any money to any volunteer for his or her service during a mission.   We encourage volunteers to focus more on the Heavenly gain (Luke 10:20, 1 Peter 1:4, 1 Corinthians 9:25).
